A quick guide to some of the best bars and clubs in Playa de las Americas
With a reputation of being the island of Tenerife’s party capital, it’s only natural that Playa de las Americas should have an abundance of fantastic bars and nightclubs. Luckily the resort more than lives up to its status amongst night owls and it’s possible to spend night after night at a different venue without seeing them all in one holiday. Not only is the nightlife plentiful, the bars and nightclubs in Playa de las Americas are also varied. Sports bars, Irish pubs, traditional Canarian beach huts and vibrant clubs can all be found scattered across the party resort. Within the resort itself the main nightlife areas can be divided into The Patch, Veronicas and Starco’s – each offering something a little different from the one next door. Read on for a little guide to each area and what you kind of night time entertainment you can expect on your next Tenerife holiday.
The Patch
The Patch is much more focused on keeping the whole family entertained than just drawing in the Club 18-30 crowd. Bars here allow children in until mid-evening and entertainment often involves some sort of show. It is possible, however, to avoid the family crowds and grab a few drinks at a bar. The Dubliner Bar, as the name suggests, is an Irish theme pub that plays host to a number of different live music acts. Next why not seek out the Sax Bar where you can immerse yourself in loud guitar solos and pulsing rock music, it’s a great way to spend the evening without it getting too out of control! For those that need a bit of home comfort, Jag’s Café Bar is the place for you; you can avoid homesickness with a pint and also keep up to speed with the latest in British football with the live football on show.
Veronicas
Heading towards Veronicas, or Veronicas Strip, the variety of bars lessens and the mix of clubs increases. This is undoubtedly the club strip of the resort and gives most party goers exactly what they want – a great night out at fantastic venues. Most visitors will end up at Veronicas after sampling the bars in the other areas of town. Bobby’s Club and Busby’s Club are close neighbours that share an open air terrace.
Most of the clubs have some kind of quirk to draw in the crowds and most are renowned for their foam parties, making the clubs particularly popular with large groups. The Crow’s Nest Club is a little difficult to find after a couple of Playa de las Americas’ finest cocktails but once you’ve found the right staircase, a huge rooftop terrace and hundreds of Christmas trees worth of fairy lights await.
Starco’s
The Starco’s Commercial Centre has everything but the kitchen sink and is just as active at night as it is during the day. Home to a lot more bars than The Patch, the best nights out in Playa de las Americas start here.
Many will argue that the best night actually starts at Leonardo’s Bar. The bustling atmosphere is partly due to its great entertainment but mostly because of its great value drinks. Mett Bar is a competing neighbour that will either make you relive your youth or make you feel old with its 90s playlist either way it’ll be a night to remember. After a drink or three nearly everyone ends up at Tramps Nightclub – the largest club in Tenerife. Divided into five areas that open at different times it’s possible to keep dancing until eight o’clock the next morning – if you want to!
Holidays in Playa de las Americas certainly won’t be short of places to go at night – the resort prides itself in its vibrant, busy nightlife and you can literally dance until dawn if you want to, then take time to rest and recuperate on the beach the next day.
