There are some great locations throughout the USA that often get overlooked. When making a trip to the United States, visiting New York City is atop of most people’s lists. Bordering New York is a State that is often a bypassed tourist attraction. Connecticut is a state that is a hidden yet wonderful tourist stop. Previous visitors to this state as well as locals will tell you that Connecticut has so much to offer. There is so much for you to enjoy when visiting Connecticut, that is will be worth your while to include it as part of your trip to the New York Metropolitan area.
When making Connecticut a part of your next visit there are a couple of places that you don’t want to miss. A wildly popular place to visit within this state is the exciting Foxwoods Resort Casino. It’s by far the largest resort casino outside of Las Vegas. There are so many choices for entertainment there. At Foxwoods, you’ll see a broad range of venues of entertainment from the biggest and famous names in entertainment to championship boxing and everything in between. There is so much going on there now around the holiday season. There is a wide variety of upscale dining there; it’s an experience of a lifetime that you don’t want to miss.
A lower key yet interesting stop to make is The Maritime Aquarium. It’s an underwater adventure that children and adults alike will surely enjoy. At the Maritime aquarium you can enjoy getting up close with many sea creatures and you can get your hands wet with the hands on exhibits. There are always new and exciting exhibits popping up there. You can also enjoy an IMAX film at the theater located right within the aquarium. You will find it to be great fun for the entire family. Located within Norwalk, it’s just around the corner from Stamford Connecticut hotels which offer many upscale and convenient lodging options.
If you are traveling with children another stop you should definitely include is the Connecticut Science Center. This is a brand new museum with so much going on there. You can count on spending a full day there. The hands on exhibits there include topics such as solar energy, weather and a “live in 4d experience”. It is advisable to take a look at their events calendar prior to making the trip so that you can map out your day without missing any of the exciting daily shows and exhibits.
And last but certainly not least, The Mark Twain House and Museum is a great place to visit. The museum is located in the exact spot where Mark Twain wrote the world famous classic book “Adventures of Huckleberry Fin”. There are literally thousands of artifacts there, including the historic home of Samuel L. Clemens. You can take a guided tour through the house to learn so many interesting facts and so much about its history. Making advance reservations is recommended. However you choose to see the museum, on your own or with a group tour, you will most certainly enjoy. Discover the many great places that Connecticut has to offer, by setting aside some time to make it a part of your trip. You will be happy you did.
