Image via Wikipedia

If you are looking forward to have one of the best fishing adventures of your life, you must visit Australia. It is the home of one of the best fishing trips, tours, safari, holidays and charters, which can extend from 5-14 days in various locations. It doesn’t matter what type of fishing passion you have, the down under has all that you can ask for and more. From game fishing to fly fishing, reef fishing to shark fishing, sport fishing or spear fishing, you name it, they have it. And after a long fishing trip you can wind down in the luxury tents or the cute cabins budget hotels or even camp out under the stars.

Queensland is one place you just cannot afford to miss. You start from the black marlin fishing capital of the world – Cairns. Go on a charter in the Great Barrier reef for some spectacular fishing opportunities. After along and tiring day you can retire in your hotel room or aboard the luxury mother ship, enjoying a sumptuous dinner of fresh caught coral trout along with some Australian fine wine. Look for some quality charter operators if you are planning to visit the Northern territories. The fantastic fishing spots around Darwin are the most popular. Apart from late Decembers to the end of February, this place is fishing haven- the main attraction here being the Barramundi. Tuna, Golden Snapper, Threadfin Salmon, Black Jew, Spanish mackerel, and mud crabs are also found in plenty. To truly enjoy this place, go fishing in the mainland billanongs, coastal estuaries, remote islands and offshore reefs.

Image via Wikipedia

Hire a charter from Sydney, New South Wales, which offers big game fishing, sport fishing and reef fishing. If you are going to South Australia, fly to flinders Island from Adelaide in a private aircraft to make the most of the trip. Tuna, yellow tail kingfish, flatheads, King George Whiting, and squids being the main attraction. Head straight to Victoria fishing spots in Port Phillip Bay and outside in Bass Strait for Mako and Thresher Sharks.

If a 20 kg barramundi sounds exciting to you along with archer fish, alligator garfish, catfish and tarpon, Western Australia is the place for you. The breathtakingly beautiful billabongs and rivers of this place are an angler’s delight. To get the taste of real fly fishing, visit the Central highlands of Tasmania. The fishing tours generally last from 1- 6 days and this is your chance to fish genuine wild trout to your heart’s content.

It might be just a little overwhelming owing to the wide choices of the most spectacular fishing spots but don’t worry. Any place you pick is the right fishing destination; you are in Australia! What are you waiting for? Start gathering all the information you need and planning out a trip with your family all the way to the Down Under. This is going to be the best fishing adventure you have ever had, ever. See you soon. Good Luck and Tight Lines!

Australia is a big place. It has a total area just shy of 3 million square miles. It is no wonder then, that they have developed quite a thing for big stuff. Yes, throughout the country there are numerous incidences, usually near highways, of oversized versions of everything from pineapples to prawns, read on…

The Big Pineapple

This goliath version of the prickly fruit can be found in Nambour, Queensland. You can actually get inside it where you’ll find information on everything from pineapple to, err… another pineapple. It measures 16 metres and has been a distinctive feature on the big things to see scene since 1971.

The Big Shrimp

Located in Ballina, New South Wales, this roof mounted crustacean would certainly crush you’re barbeque were you to throw it on said outdoor grill. The shrimp or prawn (does anyone know the difference?) is a delicious pink and features a viewing area too, neato!

The Big Golden Guitar

This 12 metre tall fibreglass musical monster is located outside the Country Music Gallery of Stars Wax Museum in Tamworth, New South Wales. The guitar is an over-over-sized version of the award presented to winning artists at the Country Music Awards. And if this didn’t all fit thematically together enough already, Tamworth is considered the home of country music and the big ol’ guitar was unveiled by none other than Slim Dusty!

The Big Lobster

Ok, I feel including two marine dwelling creatures from the same genus is a little weak. But how could I not! Look at it, the big lobster is magnificent! It’s on the princess highway, Kingston SE, South Australia and measures 18 metres tall, that’s huge. It is appropriately coloured to represent the boiled version seeing as it sits astride a restaurant that by all accounts has a reputation for quality seafood. Definitely a favourite thing among big things.

The Big Galah

If you don’t go to see this big galah then you’re a big galah. It’s in Kimba, South Australia, the town is pretty small, and doesn’t feature much else other than the Half Way Across Australia gift shop the enormous bird sits in front of…

The Big Potato

Our big stuff round up concludes in Robertson county, which as everyone (in Oz) knows is potato country, hence why there is a giant potato! Now, I’m not the first to suggest this, but it’s likeness to a potato is questionable and it isn’t exactly what one would call a visual treat. As such it has been given some rather unpleasant nicknames, but I’m sure you can imagine what they might be…

Australia is well known for its cheeky and lovable animals. Many people travel from all over the world to see a kangaroo or koala. However, these animals are not as common as tourists believe. A visitor is unlikely to see a native animal whilst staying in city apartments. Brisbane and Sydney are unlikely to yield a kangaroo sighing. However, travelling away from the cities to the outback will increase the odds. If deciding to travel to search for animals, it is advisable to obtain travel insurance. Much of Australia’s outback is remote and emergencies often occur.

Some of Australia’s most well loved animals are;

Koalas

Kangaroos

Emus

Wombats

Cockatoos

Image via Wikipedia

Koalas

Koalas are not bears but marsupials. These are a kind of mammal. Koalas are vegetarians who live on eucalyptus trees which are common in Australia. Koalas are found in New South Wales, Queensland, Victoria and South Australia. They inhabit large eucalypt forests but are rarely seen in the wild. The best place to see koalas is in a zoo. If encountered in the bush it is advisable not to approach them as they are wild animals and can be dangerous.

Image via Wikipedia

Kangaroos

Kangaroos are common in bushland areas throughout Australia. However, they are not common in the cities. Travelling to remote areas will

almost ensure a kangaroo sighting. Seeing kangaroos in the wild is an amazing experience. They travel in large groups and the sight of a mob of kangaroos hopping over a plain is unforgettable.

Emus

Image via Wikipedia

Emus are large flightless birds. They are not common on the eastern seaboard of Australia due to development. However, they are more numerous in the inner, arid areas of the country. Emus are able to run at a great pace and can swim to avoid predators. They are valued by indigenous people for their meat and feathers. Emus are also one half of the Australian coat of arms, the other being the kangaroo.

Wombats

Image via Wikipedia

Wombats are short, furred, four legged creatures which are difficult to spot in the wild. They burrow underground and emerge at night to forage for food. They are slow moving creatures which are common to the South Eastern areas of Australia.

Cockatoos

Image via Wikipedia

One animal which is often spotted in city areas of Australia is the native cockatoo. The cockatoo is a white breasted parrot with a distinctive loud call. The bird’s piercing screech often startles many people staying or living in apartments. Brisbane and Sydney are home to many cockatoos. They are a common sight in Australian cities.

The adventurous traveller may wish to search for Australian animals in the wild, but this requires care, including reliable equipment and travel insurance. Australian animals although cute to look at are wild creatures and should be approached with caution if found in their native habitat. However, once spotted they are an incredible sight. The thrill of seeing a wild kangaroo or koala is one which remains in the memory forever.

Australia is great destination especially if you go to the sea side. In Australia’s shoreline there’s a huge variety of species that you don’t see anywhere else in the world.

Speaking English really helps if you’re thinking about travelling to that country, people are really friendly and they’ll help you with whatever you need.

For a good time this summer you just need contact Australia trips, they have knowledge of many summer activities in Australia like great ocean road trips or great barrier reef trips.

Australia is very rich in nature and if you’re into it it’s going to be an excellent experience. You can also experiment great night time but that’s more in the cities, I’ll leave that for another post.

The internet is an excellent source to find activities wherever you go, make sure you take advantage of such marvel of the modern days.
