Terms such as OEM, remanufactured, compatible and generic printer ink cartridges can be encountered may result into confusion. Here are some of the differences between these terms that will help clarify things.

 

OEM Ink Cartridges

OEM or Original Equipment Manufacturer ink cartridges are ink cartridges that bear the original name of your printer brand. Brands like HP, Epson, Brothers, Canon, Lexmark and Dell are just some of these brands that manufacture their own inkjet printer cartridges. These OEM will surely deliver high-quality standards and authenticity for it carries the name of the company. They are a bit expensive compared to generic or compatible ink cartridges.

 

Compatible Ink Cartridges

Compatible ink cartridges are those that are not created by the brand manufacturer but produced by other companies. They are just compatible or can be used by the model printer. These compatible cartridges are also called “generics”. They are manufactured with high-standards and sometimes even exceeded of those of the OEMs. Though compatible printer ink cartridges are not created originally by the brand company, they still offer the best and quality standard services that will definitely make every penny spending worthwhile.

 

Remanufactured Ink Toners and Cartridges

Remanufactured ink cartridges are empty ink cartridges that have been manufactured by specialists and technicians. These are recycled by refilling with compatible ink that can deliver the same or almost the same quality prints just like the original. The refilling undergoes certain process: cleaning, inspecting and refurbishing missing cartridge parts. After these processes, the empty ink cartridge will then be refilled with the ink. Remanufactured ink cartridges are usually cheaper compared to OEMs and compatible cartridges.
